Old Smithfield township.
The Ungemach Beer Bottle was found at what is believed to be the site of Alf and Annie Martin's Bee Hive Hotel. Alf and Annie Martin bought a block of land on Macdonald Street in Old Smithfield at the first Cairns land sales in February 1877 and erected the Bee Hive Hotel. When Old Smithfield was abandoned in 1879, the Martin's took up a rural block of 80 acres, built a farmhouse and ran cattle. Alf Martin was a packer and carrier to the Herberton tin mines. Martin's farmhouse was where the Captain Cook Highway now crosses Avondale Creek near the Smithfield Shell service station.

Fábrica de cerveza de Quillota [Ungemach's Quillotta Brewery]
Adam Ungemach Hyner was born in Germany (c.1830-1895) and migrated to Chile with his parents Luis Ungemach and Carlota Hyner. He married María Guevara, had two children, Matilde and Julio, and died in San Felipe in 1895.
Ungemach founded the Quillota brewery circa 1870 on the Avenida de Condell and Callejón Herboso in Quillota. At the Exposición Nacional de Artes e Industria (National Exhibition of Arts and Industry) in the Mercado Central de Santiago (Santiago Central Markets), which was held between 15-21 September 1872, Ungemach was awarded a bronze medal for his beer.
